This piece isn't my favorite visually because it's kind of dark in the corners, making it feel like a tunnel. But then I read the background info and how it's kind of a political forewarning and now I appreciate the symbolism more.

I like this painting because it looks all bright and happy but in reality it's a tragedy with the "fallen angel", Icarus, thrashing unnoticed in the water below. This was definitely one of Bruegel's allegories in the way that life doesn't care if you fall.

I thought this piece was ahead of it's time, in the way that it captures winter perfectly with the contrast in colors. It reminds me of the eighteen hundreds more than the time period it was made because you can't see anyone's faces or era specific clothing. It's cold and people were just dressing more and it creates this cool timeless effect. I also like this piece because it uses a different color scheme for Bruegel who seems to stick to the oranges and reds.
