Throughout this semester, I encountered many challenges while taking this course.

As I briefly mentioned in a previous reflection, this was my very first experience with an education-focused class. Until now, I had only taken linguistics courses, so approaching this subject from the perspective of a teacher was entirely new—and honestly, quite daunting. Unlike many of my peers who have steadily built their pedagogical understanding, I felt I was starting from zero. This gap made me feel uncertain and, at times, overwhelmed.

One of the biggest difficulties I faced was a lack of confidence. Having been used to passive learning in lecture-based linguistics classes, I often questioned whether I was truly keeping up with the expectations of this course. These doubts grew, eventually weakening my motivation and participation. Looking back now, I sincerely regret not being more proactive and engaged. I believe I could have grown significantly—not just in terms of course performance, but also in addressing my own avoidance habits that affect many areas of my life.

Despite these struggles, this course gave me some important realizations:

	1.	I tend to avoid challenges when I feel uncertain.

	2.	In contrast, I can be a perfectionist in areas where I feel more in control.

	3.	Unfortunately, I became aware of these traits too late to manage them effectively during this semester.

I humbly acknowledge that I failed to fully manage myself. I am truly sorry that I could not show you my best in this course. Still, I am grateful for this learning experience. Now that I’ve recognized these patterns in myself, I am determined to improve—not just as a student, but as a person. This course may have been difficult, but it has planted a valuable seed for growth that I will carry forward.

I asked ChatGPT to wait for my response, but it didn’t change its behavior at all. Typically, as I tried to continue after saying just two sentences, ChatGPT would interrupt and generate an answer, cutting me off. I repeatedly asked for about 30 seconds of response time and told it that I felt uncomfortable when it interrupted me, asking it to wait longer before replying. However, the results remained the same. After experiencing this in conversations with ChatGPT, I created level-specific English learning prompts. So, when designing prompts for middle and high school learners, I specifically instructed it not to give any feedback until I had spoken at least 3 to 5 sentences.
