Harriet Tubman’s impact on American society is undeniably powerful and influential. Harriet Tubman is a household name, along with being considered one of the great American heroes. Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad is one of the more, if not the most, popular topics for children’s book, with thousands of stories written in her honor, describing all she did to better our country. No child can come through the American education system without learning about Harriet Tubman, and the exceptional person she was. Even a century after her death, Tubman is still being honored in countless ways, “including two proposed namesake national parks, a Maryland state byway and a state park set on land where she once worked as a slave” (Clark). She is even going to be on the $20 bill, replacing Andrew Jackson. There is no denying that Harriet Tubman, even 105 years after her death, is still extremely influential in American society.
