All staff members want to feel valued. We can all take time to recognize and appreciate our colleagues.
Application: Buy favorite snacks/drinks for colleagues. Have students deliver candy from pumpkin candy bowl. Pass notebooks to staff members with compliments/ gratitude.

Poverty impacts student behavior.

A student who grows up in poverty may lie because they want to fit it or because they want to tell adults what they want to hear. Ex: Bethanie told her teacher/class that she went to China over summer break because that's what she thought her teacher wanted to hear.
Application: Still hold students accountable, but understand how home life can affect a student's actions/choices.

It was a great reminder of structures that I was already familiar with. This session made me think about specific students and how I will address these students' needs in the future. Amy Bertellotti and myself share a few students. We designed an approach to deal with one or two of these students.

It was helpful to be reminded the importance of sharing time/choices with students throughout the school day to help eliminate power struggles.

Faith and Courtney did a great job presenting! There are many take-aways. I cannot wait to get started with making small changes to the dialogue in my class and allowing my students to do more of the talking. 70/30. Using "Which One Doesn't Belong" and "Numberless Word Problems" will be great topics to start the conversation in math.

I thought that the presenters were very knowledgeable and professional. Here are the big three takeaways that I got from the session.

-This is a tool that can be used to evaluate the use and effectiveness of technology in our classrooms.

-We should be looking for ways to improve the quality of the technology use in our classrooms.

-Pick one thing that you do in your room with technology and try to bump up a level. Baby steps.

Great ideas for all grade levels. They incorporated Kagan structures, as well as other interactive activities. I have several ideas to use during math class and Math Mania.

I have lots of new ideas to try. I also liked having printable charts and checklist. I also have a better understanding of my students behaviors and how to respond.

There was a lot of good information, however, it was a long time to sit and listen. There needed to be more movement or activities involved for this length of time.

Math Talks was great! I brought back ideas for how to do a seating chart that will be beneficial to academic talk time to the students. I also took away more questions that would be great for student led learning.
