Educated by Tara Westover is a interesting story about the life of a young woman who lived her life deprived of education. She was the 7th youngest out of the seven children her parents had, she explains that the first three were getting an education but their parents later took them out thinking that school was brainwashing them. She explain the trouble she went through in order to escape her mormon family who used their religion in order to draw her back and make her feel outcasted. Tara grew up wanting to go to school and she wanted that education so she decided to leave and go to a university. She has to teach herself everything she was never able to learn in public school. She was granted many opportunities that brought her today with a PhD.

The most exciting part in the book was the part where Tara finally admits to her parents that she's been abused by her brother and threatened. Her father starts yelling at her for proof and starts accusing her of wanting to put shawn in jail. Her father calls for "Shawn" and he comes in with a knife and places on Tara's hands as a threat, ready to do something if she says anythings. Tara is frightened to the point that she lies she ever said anything in order to escape the next day.

The theme that I picked up was that you should always believe in yourself even if the adversities are nagging at you and you feel the need to succumb, always strive for your future life.

It's a New York times bestseller because people find her story interesting and it's been raging how she was able to escape a survivalist family and end up in England with a PhD in history.

I would give Educated a 4/5 because to me it's interesting to know that education was able to get her out of a life that looked like a dead end. I would recommend this book based on the fact that it was interesting to know how people view this book and if they relate to it at an extent
