Located on the shores of San Francisco Bay, the St. Francis Yacht Club was established in 1927 and is home to over 2,400 members who share a passion for maritime history and sailing. The club offers casual and competitive sailing programs. Its Hinman Masters team, for example, recently participated in the New York Yacht Club Individual Team Race Regatta held in Newport, Rhode Island, and returned with the Hinman Masters Trophy. The 12-person team had won the trophy in three consecutive years from 2011 to 2013 but finished third in 2014 and second in the following two years.

Led by captain Steve Marsh and skippers Shawn Bennett, Russ Silvestri, and Nicole Breault, the team finished tied for second place following the completion of races on day one, and they were further back in fifth place after day two. After a positive string of results on the third and final race day, St. Francis met Connecticut-based Noroton Yacht Club in a best-of-five series to determine the champion.
