1) In the US it is customary to offer "housewarming gifts" to your new neighbors when they first move in as a celebration of their arrival, as well as a good way to meet them.
2) Housewarming gifts are traditionally homemade baked goods such as brownies, or cookies. Things such as house plants or small pieces of furniture are also common presents because they "warm the house", hence the term, "housewarming".

1) These stories sound like those which could be taken from the Bible, which is Christianity's religious text. [Shuihu Zhuan] reminds me of "Les Miserables", a story about the French Revolution.
2) Of all the stories, [Xiyouji] stands out to me because of the specific overcoming of exactly 81 hardships. I am interested because I already know about The Monkey King and would like to know more about the other companions in the monk's adventure.

1. In the United States there aren't many moving traditions. One though is that if you are about to move home you may have a party to celebrate the good memories you've shared in your home and to also celebrate the new move and your adventures ahead of you.
2. People give housewarming gifts to the person or family that is moving. These gifts are typically plants or food.

Choose an auspicious date on which to move and consult the lunar calendar, which indicates the dates that are good for performing certain activities such as weddings, funerals, moves and travel
2. A pregnant woman should avoid moving into a new home or moving/repairing any furniture in her bedroom, the Chinese believe that the spirit of a fetus is not yet settled and might be scared by the move
3. Lots of food is prepared for the guests and tables are covered with red cloth, as red represents happiness, fortune and prosperity.

1. In American culture, we have going-away parties if we are moving far away, such as another state or country. If else is moving, we bring them housewarming gifts, to welcome them into their new home.
2. I would like to receive food or house plants because often times your new house will not have much for you to eat, since you are moving. A house plant would be nice because it would make your new house feel more like a home, and is also good for the air.

It also discusses one sided relationships and how they effect a person's view.
2. The story that sounds the most interesting to me is 西游记。This is because it I think it is interesting that they are resembling animals and taking on their actions and verbalization.

Generally greeting your new neighbors and being nice to them is the closest I get to a celebration, and there are no taboos as far as I know.
2. I've moved plenty in my life, specifically 5 different houses in a period of about five years, and I have never given a gift for a move or received a gift for a move, hence I don't know what I would like because I don't know the traditions.

1. These Chinese classic stories seem similar to a lot of the classic versions of fairy tails. A lot of these stories share the same concept of emphasizing the good traits in one character (courage, bravery) and making them the "hero" and the bad qualities (jealousy, anger) and making them the "villain".

2. I found 西游记 the most interesting because the number of 81 hardships was very specific ad interesting.
