He addressed the Cold War (McCarthyism), even when it risked his career. He also had quotes from General Lucius clay, and used Helen Keller as an example making his speech more credible.

In the aspect of how he fully prepared for the broadcast, he did a lot of research since I heard a lot of facts and quotes stated during the broadcast, it makes it very persuasive with him using facts.

He also makes the broadcast very interesting by using a lot of literary devices like imagery.

Murrow also uses iconic and unique phrases like “this i believe” which makes audience leaving an unforgettable impression on the broadcast.

Another great thing about his speech, is how he used a lot of examples of famous people and celebrities, for example Helen Keller, Pearl Buck, William Zorach, etc. These examples were powerful evidences to support his claim and thoughts, the stories behind these examples. Similar to this, he also like to use more complicated and complex words than common words, and use a lot of descriptions and literature techniques, like ‘heavy package of despair, or even a quivering portion of hysteria’, or ‘Opinions can be picked up cheap in the marketplace, while such commodities as courage and fortitude and faith are in alarmingly short supply.’ These beautiful descriptions enhance the interest and attract the listener’s attention to him.

Murrow used simple and straightforward language that made people in all age can understand the radio, plus his language also infused with sincerity and concern which made him able to connect with the audience easily .

His accent and the speed of speaking truly grabbed my attention to finish to broadcast. He demonstrated his ability to inspire and move people with his words.
