Another time when working with Batsheva, a complaint was made to the government about the costumes and he was able to stand his ground. For as long as he had lived, he never knew that he wasn't using his body correctly and he injured his back when he was living in New York. From there he began to develop his new dance language by using his body around the limpness of his leg (result of the back injury) without compensating. He discovered how gravity played into what he was doing. From a young age, he was a very grounded person, but until then, he had never organized his thoughts into meaning. Everything made sense and he decided to share it with the world. He is a very accepting person. He is a very loving person. It is shown in the way he talks about his dancers and the way they talk about him. Even though it is a very professional relationship he has with his dancers, they are very open. He treats them like family members and he talks about how important they are to him. If they are happy, he is happy. This all comes full circle because at one point, the government challenged him saying that his work was offensive, but his company, his dancers stood up with him and for him, proving how much he meant to them. In "Mr Gaga," the film he did with Tomer Heymann, one of the things he said he had Naharin do was speak in English because he wasn't as affluent and that way he could be more direct. I completely agree. As I read through article after article and watched the movie through for a second time, I still was amazed at what he had to say and how he worded it. And it was everything, about dance and the complication of relationships with people and being self-conscious, all things I relate to personally. "I have a phobia of people and I don't try to fix it. He believes the narrative comes from the interpretation of the dancer. In "Mr. Gaga," clips of his classes were shown and he was telling them about the movement by letting them connect it to something personal. The environment in his classes are so unique because the room is full of people being themselves, doing what they know and all of it starts because he says something like, "control your arms as if your heart is coming out of them." It provokes the feelings of happiness and sadness at the same time and it is so simple but so freeing. In his words, “to mourn a big loss and to dance, they don’t contradict each other.
