Adult life and beliefs

Wilde truly believed in living life to the fullest and pursuing anything that brings pleasure. Over time, he gained a bad reputation because of his close relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas. Eventually, he was accused for being a homosexual and, later on, arrested for it. After he had been released from prison, he was bankrupt. Finally, he passed away from an ear infection he had got at prison.

Interesting facts

Wilde always wanted to be true to his freedom so he could easily adapt to new ideas and circumstances. For example, he would tell fairy tales at dinner parties which was very different to his typical style. Even though he was arrested for being gay, he was married to Constance Lloyd. He always had wanted to be Catholic and he was converted in his death bed.

Personality and reputation

The action of self-praise was nothing new. Wilde was constantly complimenting his own intellect, creativity, and stylishness. This was one of the main reasons why he had such a good number of critics judging him. However, he did not pay attention to such critiques. Instead, he was travelling and lecturing people on art movements and his life in USA.

Studies and Profession

Throughout his life, Wilde spent almost 10 years taking courses at different universities, studying, reading and writing poems. He considered himself a scholar after he had won a prize for a long poem called Ravenna when he was just in his twenties.
