Man- The overall conflict in the novel is the yearn that Americans have of achieving the idealistic "American Dream."<br>Man v. Man- George had an internal conflict because he felt responsible for Lennie.<br><strong>Theme<br></strong>The nature of human survival. Throughout the novel, every major character&nbsp;had a sense of loneliness and isolation.<strong><br>Point of View<br></strong>Third Person Omniscient <br><strong>Beginning and Endings<br>Literary Devices<br></strong>symbolism- Lennie's rave over mice resembles his innocence. Every time he pets a mouse, his innocence starts to slip away.<br>irony- The irony is that George and Lennie escape Weed to start a new life, but end up in the same position as they started.<br>symbolism- Candy's dog was killed being is was old and useless. Candy feared the same would happen to him as he grows older and weaker.<strong><br>Key Quotes<br></strong>"We travel together," said George coldly.&nbsp;<br>"Oh, so it's that way"<br>George was tense and motionless. "Yea, it's that way."<br>By Curley's reaction we can infer that he assumed the men were gay because they traveled together. This shows how narrow minded Curley is when he is not capable to understand the men's friendship.</div>]]></description>
