         <description><![CDATA[<p>During World War I, on April 25, 1915, Allied troops landed in Gallipoli, Turkey. They wanted to open a new battlefront against their enemies. But the Turkish defenses were strong, and the terrain was hard to navigate. Both sides suffered a lot of casualties in the fighting. Despite their efforts, the Allies couldn't win, and they had to leave in early 1916. People remember the bravery of the soldiers who fought in Gallipoli and the sacrifices they made.</p>]]></description>

Britain got control of places like Palestine and Jordan, while France took areas like Syria and Lebanon. This agreement went against promises made to Arabs for independence, causing later conflicts. Its effects are still seen in the region today.</p>]]></description>
