This was done by a betrayal completed after it was learned that his whole expedition could have been false. Pi began to imply that there could have been a completely different story after the interviewers revealed that they did not quite believe him. He objects at first but then begins to state, "Here's another story" (381). Pi, providing an alternate story, reveals his true heart (participle). It can be inferred that because he was quick to lie about his horrific journey, he could have lied about many other stories he told throughout the novel. The interviewers, determined to extract a credible story, contributed to the exposure of Pi's unreliability (appositive). Pi had been dishonest about what truly happened on his passage; therefore, looking back at certain stories within the novel, it can be discovered that Pi had other minor unreliable stories (semicolon). There were many instances where Pi had been unreliable, but those moments had been brushed aside and forgotten.
