I am from the family photo album that’s been in a cupboard full of dust for a long time

And from souvenirs, that’s on the desk that goes along with a chair full of clothes.

I am from Myanmar, Shan State.

My hometown’s cold and has transparent light thin snow during the winter

It seemed like a tiny village and not a busy city, it felt cozy and heart-warming

I am from the flower pot that most people have sitting by their window

The flower that gets cared for, loved and sometimes, admired

And sometimes I can even be the leaf that has fallen

I’m from a Shan monastery

And going to the pagodas yearly, from Tun Tun Win, Nan Thein Khine ,Sandy and Justin.

I’m from both the noisy and talkative family. 

From being a nice person and believing in Karma.

I’m from Buddhism, going to pagodas, respecting Buddha.

I’m from Shan State

Shan noodles and mooncakes

From watching my brother getting stitches remorsefully

And watching my family sleep calmly after a long day.

I am from a happy family, from a fulfilled life and from a home that gives me everything I can ask for.
