Stress Relief and Study Tips!
- Reach out for help when you need it. Asking for help should not be embarrassing or shameful. In fact, most teachers love when students ask questions because it shows that the student cares and puts effort into their personal learning. Take advantage of opportunities like class time, office hours, and emails to have questions answered, topics explained, and help given.
- Make a daily/weekly homework plan. Planning out your homework in the form of lists (or whatever strategy works best for you) is a great way to manage your time. By writing down the assignments you will have to complete, you can reduce stress, make the overall workload less overwhelming, and provide organization.
- Approach school with a calm and composed mindset. You have got this! Some ways I like to relieve stress and calm myself down are painting, baking, gardening, and journaling. Doing creative activities in your free time will release built up stress and tension, making you happier and more able to approach schoolwork with a positive mindset.

Helpful Stress Relief and Study Tips!
- To not stress out at the beginning of finals, make an action plan. At least a week and a half before finals, block off some time in your calendar to study for certain subjects. This will make studying less stressful and hopefully more time efficient.
- Sleep!!! I get it, you have probably heard your parents tell you several times to sleep at least eight hours. Well I hate to agree with them, but they are right, especially before finals. Now here's the part your parents don't tell you. When you're asleep, your body goes through sleep cycles and during these cycles there is a part called REM sleep, during REM sleep your memory improves! So the more you sleep, the more sleep cycles you go through which means more REM sleep and more things memorized for your finals!
- For studying, it is important to know what type of learner you are. If you are a visual learner then seeing the information on flash cards could help you retain information. If you are an auditory learner then hearing yourself read your notes out loud will help you remember. If you are unaware of the type of learner that you are, there are several quizzes on the internet for you to try!
- Another tip to use for studying is listening to music. Whether the music is classical or hard rock, music has proven to help people focus.

Stress Relief and Study Tips!
1. Use Google Calendar
By using Google Calendar you can choose a definitive start and end time in which you want to study, and can then carve out a block for it on your calendar. It can also notify you of the session you put down in case you forget. This way you can also have an overview of every class and how long you need to study for to feel less stressed.
2. Study in small increments
Say you will only study for a short amount of time like 5 minutes. The chances are you will continue after the 5 minutes are up and keep working. By doing this, you can get into a motivated state and feel less stressed.
1. Use the Pomodoro Technique
This technique involves setting a timer for 25 minutes and studying during that time. After the timer goes off, you set another timer for 5 minutes in which you can take a break. You can keep repeating this technique until you have finished the studying you need to do.
2. Know what you need to study
For finals, look at all the topics or units you have covered in a class for the semester. From here determine what topics you know and what topics you need to review. Then try to gather any notes, past assignments, or tests/quizzes associated with the information you need and study it.

Some Stress Reliever and Study Tips!
1) Create a handwritten study planner.
Handwriting a list of ways to prep yourself will not only help reinforce your memory, but it will also force you to think about what you need to do to get yourself ready. It will also help you space out your studying blocks so that you don't overload your brain!
2) Go to your teacher's office hours.
There are office hours for a reason- use it! Your teachers are there to help you the most for your final, so when you have questions, utilize that precious time.
3) Teach your concepts to a family member or friend who may not fully understand the concept you are studying for.
If you are able to teach the topics on your final, you definitely understand the material. This is a great way to check for your personal understanding and for you to identify what specific topics you need to brush up on.
4) Know when to take breaks for eating, exercising, and most importantly, SLEEPING!
I can tell you from personal experience that eating healthy, working out for even 20 minutes a day, and sleeping at least 8 hours a night can increase your productivity and alertness for the most effective studying.
5) DON'T CRAM !!!!!
It just... it doesn't work. Don't do it. You may remember the content for the next day but the cons outweigh the pros.

1. Don't lie to yourself and create false hope. If you push things off and think to yourself it will be ok if you do it this day or the next it doesn't work. I know it sucks but just get it done right then and there. Don't procrastinate studying and lie to yourself thunking it will all work out. In the end you will just end up cramming or barely studying.
2. Study for 30-45 minutes at a time and then take 5-10 minute breaks. Keep repeating that and it will really help. If you study for hours and hours with no break your head will get clouded. Also try and drink water when studying.
3. Take each class one class at a time. What I mean by that is, don't think about all the studying you have to do and how it will be so hard to do it all. That will make you too anxious, you just need to stay calm and plan out your studying.
4. Use a planner and commit yourself to getting things done each day. If you plan it out it will work out because you won't end up cramming. Like I said in the first point, don't lie to yourself and push stuff back saying it will be ok. PLAN IT OUT.
5. Talk with a friend about the subject. I feel when I actually have a good discussion with a friend it helps me learn a lot better. It is known that talking about a subject is the best way to know if you know it.

Lack of sleep can increase stress and anxiety levels.

- study skills: Create flash cards of important terms or ideas used in classes. Repetition is key to memorization.
- study skill: Study over several days instead of cramming. You have a better chance of retaining information when repeated over time.

Stress Relief Tips: Just personal things I do
1) Prevent stress...
This sounds like a longshot, but train yourself to view stress differently. You can first start by meditating daily. Whenever you feel stress, keep in mind the Schachter-Singer 2 factor theory of emotion: a physiological response and a cognitive label. The physiological response to stress is the same as excitement, so just place a different cognitive label. Remind yourself that you are excited and not stressed. Stress is not a bad thing, we just need to view it differently.
2) Power Posing before tests
If you had or are in Varsity Chemistry, Nielsen gives you the option to power pose... DO IT!!! It raises testosterone and lowers cortisol levels. Have a full-on K-pop dance party if you have to...

Study Tips
3) All of the tips in the presentation are great ways to learn knowledge. However, in some classes regurgitation of knowledge is simply not enough. I always like to do practice tests before major exams as well as a comprehensive review of the material. Actually read and take notes on the textbook.
4) Creating a study group is great. You will never realize how many friends you will make through the "suffering together" mentality.

Study Tips:
1) Find time for things that you enjoy and ones that make you feel accomplished. For example, make your bed, workout, go on a walk, make a healthy meal. Things that set the tone for your day can be incredibly beneficial for not only dealing with finals, but with dealing with other anxiety and stress from day to day life.
2) Do not procrastinate. Often times we will put things off and eventually have things build up, which then is extremely overwhelming. Instead, if we take that one step earlier and start an assignment etc, we will then feel less stressed when due dates come around.
3) Have social time. I find that being around friends and family can put me in a great mood and take my mind off some of the things that cause anxiety. Of course, this doesn’t mean not taking care of your responsibilities, but by taking breaks and allowing yourself to have fun is crucial to success not only in school but in other things as well.

Stress and Study Tips!

1. Create, update, and utilize a weekly planner and/or daily to-do list. Big challenges can seem incredibly overwhelming, but breaking them down into smaller tasks can get you less stressed and more will to work.
2. Get enough sleep, and go to bed earlier. This is something I struggle with, but most of the time spent late at night is either cramming for work you didn't do earlier in the day or doing unhelpful things like watching videos & entertainment. You will be so much more productive if you just go to bed and get to work right in the morning. Get 8-10 hours!!
3. DON"T PROCRASTINATE!!! This is another big one, especially for studying. By breaking up your work into smaller sections and planning them out, this can increase the quality and quantity of the work. Also, it will make you feel so much better. Rip the bandaid off and get to work today, not tomorrow.
4. Find fun and creative ways to show your knowledge. This can be creating a fun song with your study terms/definitions, or make a funny video. Or, something as simple as creating a short rhyme that helps you remember. Don't make studying boring, make it something you want to do. Also, this way you will retain more information!
Good luck everyone!!

1. When stressed, lift your mood by doing what makes you happy. It could be watching a TV show, going on TikTok, watching comedic videos, going outside in nature, eating a bunch of snacks, playing an instrument, listening to good music, etc.
2. Another tip is to take a nap. When you nap, your mind and your body relaxes, relieving tension and stress.

1. One study tip is to use quizlet or flashcards. You could make your own study set on quizlet or look for study sets made by other people, that have the same information you need to study(which i do when I'm too lazy to make my own). It focuses on memorization and takes only about 15 minutes to probably learn about 100 words and meanings.
2. Another tip is to put away all devices when studying. Devices are distracting and tempting, so to put your focus on studying, put those distractions away.

Tips for stress
- I have an outlet, which is like having a happy place but is a bit easier to come by. If you have an happy object/cat that you could use, stress becomes a lot easier to handle. My cat is the best cat in the world, so whenever I feel stressed or in between classes, or even during class, I will go grab my cat and use her for comfort. All my classes love my cat so that also de-stresses me.
- I also suggest an iced coffee, and to even maybe fined your favorite iced coffee so you could look forward to whats like a treat in the morning or any time of day.
- breathe and talk to your water!!! Look this up, it actually helps your body when you give loving words and kindness back to your water before you drink it.

1) Getting out of your room/home is SO important during online learning. When school is too stressful, I like to step outside of my cave and go outside. Just sitting outside or going for a quick walk for 15-20 minutes reduces my stress greatly. Feel the sun, listen to the breeze, and BREATHE!
2) Meditate! There’s a reason why people say to meditate if you stressed, it’s because it works ;) When I get stressed out it helps to ground myself and to refocus through meditation. I like holding crystals while I meditate to feel connected with the space around me. You can escape your stressful environment without even physically leaving.
3) Listen to some groovy music! Listening to 70/80/90s music always reduces my stress. If i’m in the car or just vibing in my room playing some music always makes me feel better. The 80s/90s have some unique tunes that really resonates with my soul but okay whatever makes you wanna dance!
