Wets wanted alcohol and the dry didn't want alcohol. Dry wanted to end alcohol as they saw alcohol as an issue as it made way for a lot of crime and corruption to happen as it led to alcoholism and family violence as well as political corruption. Another reason was to help hygiene in the u.s and improve the health of the people. Meanwhile, the wets wanted alcohol as they thought that the law would be taking away their freedom and also breeds crime.

In conclusion, it was frowned upon throughout the communities. This was a loss to the West. They were no longer allowed the privilege to drink liquor.  With this new amendment in effect striving alcohol businesses fell to the ground making way a new way to access alcohol. This new way is called the back market and was a result of the previous prohibition of alcohol. This encouraged disrespect of the law and buffed organized crime.
