The Lord commanded the apostles to spread the gospel. They appointed ministers of different ranks by the laying on of hands, and those ministers in turn ordained newly chosen ministers. Hebrews 6 also mentions the laying on of hands as a foundational doctrine.

Does anyone today have that authority of the Spirit through the laying on of hands from the apostles? If so, how can that be, since infant baptism was widely practiced until the Anabaptists, while we reject infant baptism and believe that people should be baptized and ordained only by valid ministers with proper authority? Yet this line of authority seems to break at many points. How can this be reconciled with biblical doctrine and the present Pentecostal situation?
