I am entering the field of early childhood education because I have always had the idea of wanting to become a teacher at some point in my life. I do have some doubts having to do with how much they earn and the the overworked aspect, because honestly teachers should get paid much more than they do for what they do. Other careers, some much shorter also interest me like MRI technologist or something in business, however, having taken another Child Development Class (103), I found this one to be similar which I really liked. Furthermore, I took a part time job at an after school program right out of high school and was assigned 2 Kindergarten kids and really enjoyed working with them. All in all, it is a mix of past experiences with past courses and a lifelong dream career of mine that encouraged me into taking this course.

Diversity is something crucial to the development of children. Unless they are taught different, their innocence sees everyone alike and that is the thing, we are all equal, "we all bleed the same", as the saying goes. From a young age our mind is shaped to think how we are taught and what we see/hear at home. Diversity helps us understand different perspectives and fosters inclusivity alike. In my work, I will treat everyone the same and TEACH or encourage others to have RESPECT for one another because we are all human and regardless of anything, we can all be whatever we want in life regardless of gender, race, or anything that would "normally" or generally set us apart.

Teaching young children is an art. They don't only learn from you, but you learn from them likewise. I find it rather interesting that children are all so different and likely so have to be taught and learn a lot differently. It is just so amazing how much each one of their young minds work. One would assume that they are all learning the same thing, but perception is also at play and how they interpret what they see and hear is different. The importance of understanding how to cater to each child's specific needs is vital to their overall development. It is truly fascinating how we as human beings all learn differently and perceive the world in different ways.
