The origin of this heat comes from two sources: most of it has been stored since the beginning of the Earth's formation resulting from the collision of the planetesimals. The rest is generated by the disintegration of radioactive elements.

This internal heat generates convection currents in the mantle, which behaves like an extremely thick liquid. When the materials in the interior heat up, they expand, become less dense and rise. As they cool, they descend and continue the cycle.

Orogeny (or orogenesis) derives from the Greek oros, which means mountain, and genesis, which means origin or mode of formation. The term mountain building implies that the rate of surface uplift is greater than the rate of erosion such that, over time, a lowland area evolves into a mountain system. Orogeny refers specifically to deformation imposed during mountain building. Although mountains form in a variety of ways, most geologists associate orogeny with continental-size mountain systems that develop along an entire continental margin as a result of the convergence and accretion of two or more tectonic plates. Such a compressional mountain system is known geologically as an orogenic belt (or orogenic system)

These include issues related to climate change, pollution and overpopulation. This may seem like a small change, but for organisms that live in nature and constantly adapt to their environment, any change in climate can be dangerous. Any long-term climate change could destroy the species' habitat. Even the slightest climate change can alter an organism's survival. Pollution adds chemicals, noise, heat and even light to the environment. Water pollution threatens vital marine and freshwater resources around the world (see figure below). In particular, industrial and agricultural chemicals and waste, as well as acid rain, threaten water quality. Water is essential for all ecosystems and water pollution can cause the extinction of some species. Finally, soil pollution can also lead to extinction. Soil contamination can come from toxic industrial and household waste (see image below), irrigation sales, and agricultural pesticides. All of these factors also degrade the soil. Since soil is the foundation of terrestrial ecosystems, this could lead to the extinction of species.
