The quote was chosen because it fits in well with the theme of the book. The reasons why, Hannah is ending her life, aren't what you'd expect. This quote ties together all of the tapes. The things she kills herself over aren't typically what's thought of when people think, suicide. Some of her reasons seem small, but they didn't know the effect, even the smallest actions can have.

I agree with most of the review of the book. It stood out and was unique in a young adult literature world of sci-fi and mythology. Jay Asher did a fantastic job with creating a book in a different format and presentation of the story line. I would, and have, recommended this book as well.
I don't agree with all of it, the author of the review was entranced immediately with the book. For myself it took a bit of reading to finally enjoy both characters, Hannah and Clay. Hannah comes off on tape one as attention seeking and selfish. While Clay doesn't seem to have much ambition or passion for anything.

Young enough (26) to still pass as a "film teen". She was excellent in Harry Potter, but the type of acting she brought to Perks of Being a Wallflower is why I chose her. Watson played the young and confused complex high schooler well, similarly to Hannah. She could keep the character interesting which is, necessary. Hannah Baker is on the edge of suicide throughout the stories on the tapes. She is described as being youthful and attractive, as well as intelligent enough to put together and carry out the plans of her suicide. The experienced actress would strive in this role.
