This will give you the chance to speak to staff and students to help you decide on your subject choices and find out more about the college. For 16-19 year old students

Varndean College, BHASVIC and Brighton MET together form the Accord Colleges in Brighton and Hove. The three colleges have a coordinated application process for students seeking to study at any of the Accord Colleges.

Under the Accord, you will not be able to make an application to both Varndean College and BHASVIC. This is so that these two sixth form colleges can effectively plan curriculum provision to cater for as many students wishing to study in one of these colleges as possible.

You are welcome to make an application to one of these two Sixth Form Colleges and also to Brighton MET, however. You are also entirely free to apply to any other educational institution - it is only in the case of Varndean College and BHASVIC that you are not able to apply to both colleges. An Accord College is likely to ask you, at interview, about any other applications you have made or offers you hold from other educational institution, employer or training provider.

As part of the application process for either Sixth Form College, you will be asked to confirm that you have not made a separate application to the other Sixth Form College.

Varndean and BHASVIC work very closely together and will share data to check and avoid applicants having applied to both Sixth Form Colleges. If you have made an application to both Sixth Form Colleges, you may no longer be treated as a priority applicant. One of the colleges will contact you to ask which application you wish to withdraw and an interview will not be possible at either college until this has been established.

Many of our students have gone on to accept places at world-leading universities including Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrew’s, Imperial College, UCL, King's College and LSE. This has been achievable through the foundation of outstanding teaching students receive at Shoreham Sixth Form, as well as our ethos of ambition and hard work within a supportive learning community.  

Shoreham Sixth Form students also thrive in our Education with Character curriculum. Step 3 – Accepting a place 

Offers will be sent to you via the email you provide with your online application. The offer will be conditional based on predicted GCSE grades and will require you to accept the offer within 14 days to secure your place. 

Step 4 – Confirm your results 

Following GCSE results day in August 2024, we will email you to ask you to inform us of your grades using our Fast Track application system.

Step 5 – Attend enrolment 

Enrolment is where you officially sign up as a college student. Your enrolment appointment will be sent to you via e-mail nearer the time, and will take place in the first week of September. You will have the opportunity to review your subject selection based on your results with our curriculum advisors. 

Step 6 – Starting college

Our Sixth Form has the following minimum entry criteria:

• Five GCSE grades 5 – 9 (including English & Maths) for all A level courses.  Some A level courses may have specific entry requirements depending on the subject – please see the Course List further information.

All King's School Year 11 students who meet these criteria may continue into the Sixth Form if they wish to.  There are also a minimum of 50 places available to external applicants. If these are oversubscribed, then we will prioritise enrolment using the over-subscription criteria set out in our Sixth Form Admissions Policy.
