Love is such an strong thing that never goes away. The speaker of this poem loved books. Books were her outlet in life. During this time, it was segregated, African Americans didn't really have a say in the world. But, the narrator used reading as her part of speech. Also, The speaker had no problem with reading books, she did what she loved most
   Another theme that this book has would be " Doing what makes you happy ". The librarian that was a different race, cared for the speaker. The speaker needed books, and the librarian had a heart and got them for her. She was happy.
