Performers may act out incidents that could be found in religious books (Quran, Bible, Vedas, Tripitaka, etc). But this performance is not a form of worship to their God.
🎬 Theater performances can be carried out anytime, no specific time given. Sometimes performances are carried out seasonally, in a suitable time where many spectators could come and watch a show.
🎬 Theater performance could be depicted in plenty of genres such as comedy, action, horror. Purpose is to amuse or give a message to the audience.

Ritual :
🔸 All participants in a particular ritual share the same belief and Ritual is meant to invoke a particular deity based on the belief
🔸 The choice of location for ritual performances may fit in the belief system, these locations are highly specific. For example a mountain top may be a location of choice to invoke a particular deity associated to mountains.
🔸 Rituals are a form of worship to invoke blessings or presence of a particular deity. However some Rituals are carried out as performances to tell a particular story based on a belief
🔸 Most of the time Rituals are carried out preodically or at a specific time or phenomenon. Example some Rituals are carried out when there is a change in moon phase, whether, etc.
🔸 Huge varieties of Rituals.
GROUP 8 THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RITUAL AND DRAMA : Theater is a performance derived from an idea. It is performed to an audience as a purpose to convey their idea in a message. All things done by an actor is pretend. The environment, setting, and portrayal of a character by the actor may ignite real emotions in the audience, but for the sake of the story/script, it is all pretend. Theater also are meant to be reinterpreted by new generations of actors and directors, although still within the framework of the original source material. There are many cases where plays are re-visualized and their scripts are changed to fit a new directors' vision. Although theater misinterpretation is also vulnerable to backlash, the 'unspoken rules' are much less rigid than rituals.Meanwhile, ritual is a spiritual ceremony that is derived from a historical belief, which carries a powerful meaning that involves communicating with real spirits/Gods. If someone is possessed by a spirit/god, then a real spirit/god is communicating through them. It is a real event that is actually happening to the participants and the audiences involved. It is also meant to be kept sacred and as true as possible to the previous generations'. Misinterpretation of a performance of a ritual in a non-sacred way is seen as blasphemy. (For example, sexualizing or monetary). The ritual theory may not true, but human tend to believe that through ritual we can get something fast or in an effective ways from God/ Spirit.
