Rise 2575 BC

It lasted from 2575 BC to 2150 BC. Over these 400 years, Egypt had a strong central government and a prosperous economy. The Old Kingdom is most famous as a time when many pyramids were built. All this changed with the rise of the Old Kingdom, which was a 500-year-long period of prosperity and stability in Ancient Egypt. It was made possible by the unification of these cities under just one king. Achieving Political Stability in Ancient Egypt Despite its name, the Old Kingdom wasn’t ruled by just one king.

MAIN DYNASTIES
The Old Kingdom had three main dynasties from the Third Dynasty to the Sixth Dynasty. The third dynastie star in the year 2700 BC kingdom had its best moment in the Fourth Dynasty when pharaohs such as Khufus and Cheops ruled..The pharaoh was the head of both the government and the state religion. He was considered a god. Below the pharaoh was the vizier who ran many of the daily tasks of the government.

CONTRIBUTIONS: The main contributions of this ancient Egyptian civilization to the world in their time was that they had a system where they had a water source where they could reclaim water for farmers so that they
could irrigate crops on lands that were far from any water source. The Old Kingdom period is most famous for building pyramids. This includes the first pyramid, the Pyramid of Djoser, and the largest pyramid, the Great Pyramid at Giza.

DECLINE OF THE OLD KINGDOM
2200 and 2150 BC

After the reigns of Userkaf and Sahura, the powerful monarchs (regional governors) entered into disputes among themselves, which grew worse and worse, undermining unity and the central government. Famines also arose.

The final blow was a severe drought in the region of the sources of the Nile, caused by a drastic decrease in rainfall between 2200 and 2150 BC. C., which in turn prevented the normal floods of the Nile. The result was the final collapse of the Old Kingdom after decades of famine and unrest.

RISE OF THE MIDDLE KINGDOM
2000 BC

It started around 2000 BC by a leader called Mentuhotep II, he united all Egypt creating the middle kingdom. These kingdom was called the Golden Age of Egypt, because it had stability on economy. It's capital was Memphis. On the middle kingdom the pharaoh was viewed as a leader that managed his people.

In 300 BC the Egyptian historian Manetho wrote a history of Egypt called Aegyptiaca, which put the number of dynasties (ruling Families) at thirty. Although Manetho’s history was based on native Egyptian sources and mythology, it is still used by Egyptologists to confirm the succession of kings when the archaeological evidence is inconclusive.

RISE OF THE NEW KINGDOM
1550-1070 BC.

It began of this years, the capital was Thebes, many enemy territories were conquered in this kingdom, they also expanded a lot, progressed a lot and became the most powerful state.

During c.1412-1375 B.C.E., the Empire build a magnificent new buildings and temples.

Later all the pharaohs were found in the valley of the kings by archeologist..

Dynasty 18: THE FIRST KINGS
The Egyptian 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties ruled during this period. The pharaohs who ruled these dynasties are some of the most famous and powerful pharaohs, such as Ramses II, Thutmosis III, Hatshepsut, Tutankhamun and Akhentaten.

Ramses II: Was the third pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt.
Tuthmosis III, is the sixth pharaoh of the 18 dynasty of Egypt.
Hatchepsut, was a queen-pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of Egypt.
Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh in the 18th Dynasty.

DESCRIPTION
The First Intermediate Period is called the time that goes from the end of the 6th Dynasty to the reunification of Egypt by Mentuhotep II, Historically speaking it supposes the collapse of the political scheme of the Old Kingdom, the rise to power of the nomarchs, the appearance of a kingdom in the north with capital in Heracleópolis and another in the south around Thebes, and finally, the reunification of the country by the Thebans. Culturally, there was a very important change, both in mentality and in its literary expression, as well as in religion and possibly in society.

This period was characterized by feudalism or independence of the nomes, where the nomarchs gathered local troops and there were High Priests of the gods who also administered their goods. Another characteristic of this period was Confucianism, during which a prince from Heracleópolis took his residence to the theoretical capital of the Country.

Decline of the 1st intermediate period

The decline of the Old Kingdom is often said to have been caused by the long reign of Pepi II, during which the king supposedly lost more and more power to the central administration and the provincial governors. Perhaps the long reign of the king, which had started in his childhood and ended when he was at least well into his nineties, may indeed have allowed the central administration to become more powerful.
