Some of their grandparents are no longer around so they valued the opportunity to visit the Home.


Some felt clueless/unprepared as they were not sure what games they should prepare to play with the elderly or what the elderly would enjoy.


Some were worried they might be unable to communicate with the elderly, as they could not understand what they were saying.


Some felt nervous as they were unsure how the elderly would respond/react as it was their first time visiting a Home.

However, they were able to overcome this hurdle by using hand signals, asking their friends for help or showing them by actions on how to play the games.


A few of the residents were slow to warm up to the students but once they started playing the activities, they were enthusiastic and were able to respond to the students.


Some of the residents were bored towards the end of the 1 hour. Perhaps can think of more games to engage them or bring chess, board games to play with them.


Some of the seniors got tired nearer the end of the VIA. The students had conversations with them instead.

While talking to the elderly, they tried their best to answer and put in the effort to communicate with the students. The student appreciated these efforts.


Many of the students would like to go for such visits to nursing homes and volunteer their time in the future.

Longer time to prepare the games so that they can test them out better.


Role play where the teachers act as the elderly and students can try the communication with elderly.
