         <description><![CDATA[<p>A professor based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Hansel Burley has worked as a professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico since 2023. He is charged with instructing students, leading the department’s research team, and overseeing administrative activities. His achievements as a department leader include the development of two new educational leadership courses. Hansel Burley began his career in education as an assistant professor at Texas Tech University in 1995. He spent 25 years at Texas Tech, advancing to the position of associate dean, before joining the University of New Mexico as the college’s chief executive officer. His achievements in this position include surpassing fundraising targets, reversing a 12-year enrollment slide, and securing $18 million in endowed instructor positions.</p><p>In addition to his work at universities, Dr. Burley has served as a board member with the Association for Institutional Research. His professional memberships include the American Educational Research Association and the American Evaluation Association. He has received several honors and accolades during his career in education, including the 2019 Bruce Thompson Outstanding Paper Award from the Southwest Education Research Association, as well as the organization’s Outstanding Graduate Student Award.</p><p>Dr. Burley began his education as an undergraduate at St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, where he was a student senator and Dean’s List student. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in English communication arts, he completed a graduate program in English with an educational leadership minor at Stephen F. Austin State University. He concluded his education at Texas A&amp;M, College Station, earning a doctor of philosophy in curriculum and instruction.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
