- Dr. Theodor Billroth was a Viennese surgeon who first discovered and named Streptococcus. But it has not been found to have multiple types and cause various problems. Moreover, Anton van Leeuwenhoek, a scientist, and microbiologist from Holland was also said to have discovered strep throat.

- The disease was originally suspected to be caused by bacteria.

- Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms — such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies. Strep throat was categorized as an infectious disease.

- The first description of streptococcal infection is attributed to the Austrian surgeon, Theodor Billroth. Now, this infection is found everywhere around the world.

- Strep throat can be contagious for about 2-3 weeks in individuals who are not taking antibiotics. However, individuals who do take antibiotics for strep throat usually are no longer contagious about 24- 48 hours after initiating antibiotic therapy.

- Each year, some 600 million people worldwide contract strep throat, many of them children.

- I have included a map of the locations of strep throat detection.

- Virulence is The capacity of a pathogenic organism to produce disease.

- Due to its high contagiousness, strep throat can spread rapidly through close contact. Before displaying symptoms, people with strep throat may still be contagious for a few days. Strep throat often causes a moderate illness, but it can be very painful. Typical signs might include fever and swallowing pain soreness.

- The virulence did not significantly change through time because it has been coevolving with humans for thousands of years.

He experimented with many different kinds of azo dyes, just like Paul Ehrlich's team until he found one to cure Strep Throat. The cure was a Sulfa Drug which was called Prontosils.

- New advances including two types of tests for strep throat: a rapid strep test and throat culture.

The most revealing aspect I have learned about strep throat is that it requires constant vaccinations almost every year since it evolves to be more resistant all the time. In addition, learning how the disease has been co-evolving with humans for thousands of years was very fascinating to me. I think that adding a section where we can brainstorm different ways that can possibly be a more effective medicine can be very interesting.
