In some countries of Africa, women are still not equal to men in the vision of law. They are still fighting for their rights and independence.
On the other hand , Zimbabwe is a country that supports gender equality but is socially backwards. Most women have designated household roles to look after the house and raise their children in despite of necessary sanitary conditions. In 2016, women were highly encouraged by the government to obtain necessary education and the process is still on. Even though women are getting educated, they are seen as a secondary support to the family. They are responsible for social stability of the family while the men are mainly responsible for the economics needs.

Art and music are highly regarded in Zimbabwean traditions. Much of the Zimbabwean music is still influenced by traditional rhythms and sounds, which are created using local instruments such as the mbira and marimba (a type of wooden xylophone).

Shona sculptures are often semi-abstract and minimalist. Themes sometimes come from figures in African folklore. Animals also prove popular with foreign buyers. These sculptures represent the traditional unfolds of Zimbabwe.

Robert Mugabe was the former president of Zimbabwe staying from 1987 to 2017. On 24th November 2017, Emmerson Mnangagwa was sworn as the new president of Zimbabwe in a hope to revive the shattered economy.

This topic is leading to an ethnic issue as the old generation of the country trust the former president much more than the new one. This leads the country in an ethnical conflict between the modern generation and the old generation. In a hope to revive the economy quickly, the new president amended his government, this has become a major conflict in the country affecting different age groups.

This ties into my unit of study because this teaches me how the overall growth of the country is affected by different age groups and their opinions about the government.
