Deadlines being pushed back would be handy, but it could cause problems if more work is set as we will be overwhelmed with the amount of work.

Suggestions from myself would be to have a year between year 1 and year 2 of just doing practical work and creating as much stuff as we can and keeping year 1 to written and theory work.

Either that, or making year 1 written and theory for year 1 and 2, and in year 2 we focus on the practical side of things from the second half of year 1 and 2.

Having theory on old film techniques and important people from film history is all well and good but I actually don’t think I’ve done anything “Digital Media” based yet.

Having clarity on where lectures are recorded too so I can look back would also be helpful.
Aswell as a list of work I actually need to complete to pass, as I really don’t think a geography lecture is relevant even if there is a very very loose link (create a treatment based off maps and journeys)

I’d also love some more practical demonstrations on lighting (more tips and tricks of the trade)

Also having more 1-1 time with tutors since it’s so hard to actually know what is going on when plans seem to change constantly.

I’d also like to have the kit training sessions that never got re-scheduled from the start.

I know it must be extremely difficult to adapt to teaching this many people online but lumping everyone together is not the answer, personally it makes me feel like our course is being forgotten about.

  • Student bulletin: Emails have been sent out with a ton of information in it regarding lockdown, deadlines and support we can access. 

    • There is a period where youre able to book slots to come into campus to retrieve work and resources - please book ahead, our day for collection is 13th January.
    • If you are at home or at accomodation - stay where you are! if youre worried about these things then to contact chris about moving and getting his advice. 

    • Deadline and module changes: 101/102 has been moved to 9th of Feburary. Enrichment week is still the same 15th - 19th Feb. New module and trimester starts 22nd Feb. we will not lose out on weeks -  it has been extended.

    • Teaching will take place online the same as it has been but changes will be made to help students. 
    • Teachers are looking at what you have been up to rather than your final piece. it is about the journey and research. 

    • Unable to answer questions about tuition fees as they dont have the power to do anything about it but we will push toward the government. there are petitions going round which we will encourage you to sign as it willl benifit all students across the UK.


    • Our first week is a Welcome Back sessions.
    • Tuesdays lesson Lucy will be touching up on where we can find recordings online and make it easier for us to find resources. They will make changes to where we can find resources to help make it clearly.

    • 2 weeks before submission for drop in tutorials.  Class time to catch up with tutors as a whole class. 

    • Uploadng of mini tutorials and instructions on how to use Kit at home but there will be sessions to learn kit eventually.

    • When they know when we can be back on campus we will be let know as soon as possible - following government guidlines and will review when they can. what seems to be at the moment 15ths of february is when lockdown is supposedly meant to finish - however not to assume that things will go back to normal.

    • if you have kit - hold on to it and look after it. you will soon recieve updates about it.

    • Mental Health - University is trying to help and support students - in the student bulletin there is information about mental health services which you can access for free. Please get in contact with tutors if you are struggling, we are all here to help - dont be afraid to reach out, even if it is just to your class mates. Please note that i am here for you!!! if you need to talk or want some one to listen - Jem 

    • If you need any equiptment please contact Chris.

    • Any concerns that are related to Year 1 more specifically will be bought up within class.

    • Year 2 is a very practical lead year. so not to worry about the practical and lack of studio times and we will be able to catch up on studio practice.
