Interesting Typography In My Area

This is a corner shop in my area, the reason I chose this particular corner shop to photograph is because it had the most interesting and eye catching store name sign. It wasn't an easy task to find interesting typography in my area as most stores had basic and reoccurring fonts, So I had adventure a bit more.

Statement Of Intent Pt2

What excites me about the brief is the way we must turn a textual idea or feeling into a visual representation. I think this will be a bit of a challenge, but it will be interesting and something new to explore. I am looking forward to making the poem appeal to the newer generation as the way people love has been changed over time, because I feel like the newer generation is a bit lost and don’t really know what true love is

I Already have some digital design experience with Photoshop and Illustrator, and I think this will be a very useful skill to have. I am able to create traditional drawings, but I feel like I can improve, so that I got the best of both worlds. However I feel like for my final outcome I will be using digital skills as that is what I enjoy more.

I will be researching artists with different and unique styles; I will also be taking inspirations from illustration books. I think I will be using digital skills for my project and perhaps research different locations that might relate to the poems and digitally place my outcome in these places.

I think my target audience will be teenagers and young adults because my art style and the way I will be portraying the poem I have chosen will relate very strongly to them, rather than kids who have not experienced love/relationships or elders who most likely have and perhaps are settled with a partner.

Jonathan Hoefler

We watched a Netflix episode about type hosted by Jonathan Hoefler. In this episode he talks about all ways of idententifying different typefaces, then later on he showed his way of working. What I like about Hoefler's way of thinking is that he is open to any new ideas or styles as he is always wondering and asking himself the same question, "What If?". He also believes that the best way of working is with a team as the early days of a typeface are always the most difficult. Try Work with fonts and typefaces that work on multiple materials such as metal, cloth, paper, wood, concrete etc.
