They just want to be in a community and work with people without being pitied or babied for their diagnosis. Each person would explain how they felt about autism and what it was like living with or having it and how it changed their view on the world.

My perspective as a student of a low income immigrant student who has had teachers is good. I think these issues do affect all of the students. The teachers do have the right to there opinions. I do agree with all of the answers the teachers had. I've had a lot of positive experiences with teachers, being positive and giving me leeway. Teachers have always been a kind of haven for me as a students not saying my house life is at all bad. But when it comes to learning and understanding teachers always where. To be honest most children spent more time with their teachers and at school then with there own families. So teachers have always been effective at being role models to students.

The majority being people that identified a lot more with the stereotypical labels of autism whereas a few people identified themselves as more incorporated into society. It was really obvious who the higher functioning people were and how they felt towards relating to the rest of the people in that room, specially when the "do you feel connected with other autistic people'' question came up because it revealed that some people don't feel connected depending on how much they incorporate themselves into neurotypical standards like the girl with the long skirt. -Nathalie Perez

I think that all Autistic people have their own ways of living because they all have different experiences. I feel like people with autism do struggle to find their place in the world even with other autistic people because of how different their experiences are and what struggles they go through. I feel like us as people who don't have autism treat them differently which isn't good they are still human just like us they just struggle a little more than someone who hasn't had to deal with the bullying, the pity from other people, and even struggling to grow up and do adult things because society wont accept them even at job. Neurotypical society needs to start accepting people with autism as normal people and not treat them differently unless they absolutely need it. -Riley
