Believe in angels

Believe in the book

- Al-Baqarah verse 136:

Believe in the messenger

- believe in the existence of a messenger even though our distance from the prophet Muhammad is very far

Believe in the afterlife

Ihsan (goodness)

Escathology

- The Day of Judgment

3. Concept of Taqwa:

Taqwa is defined as caution, prevention, and mindfulness—exemplified by the carefulness one exercises on a thorny path. Fasting cultivates this spiritual awareness.

4. Integrity in Fasting:

A Hadith from Abu Hurairah (Bukhari) emphasizes that abstaining from food and drink is meaningless if one does not abandon false speech and deceitful actions.

5. Three Dimensions of Patience (Sabr) in Fasting:

· Patience in obeying Allah.

· Patience in avoiding prohibitions.

· Patience in enduring trials and calamities.

6. Levels of Fasting:

· Minimum: Refraining from eating, drinking, and sexual relations.

· Intermediate: Restraining the body (tongue, eyes, ears, hands) from sin.

· Optimal: Purifying the heart from worldly distractions.

7. Cultivating Mercy (Rahmah):

Fasting fosters empathy by allowing Muslims to experience hunger and thirst, thereby feeling compassion for the less fortunate. It also encourages feeding others who are fasting, with a Hadith (Tirmidhi) promising equal reward for the provider.

Zakah

- one of the pillars of Islam

- We can contribute to society when paying zakah

- Zakah is obligatory for all Muslims

Sadaqah

- not obligatory

- Anyone can receive it
