I think that a class is preparing food packs or goodie bags for a VIA project. The class seems to be split into their own groups to pack the snacks more efficiently. A teacher seems to be at the side assisting or guiding them to ensure that the group is performing up to standard and not straying from the purpose of the VIA project. This seems to be during the Covic-19 period as they are wearing their masks, so they ay be preparing food for people who are less fortunate or may not be able to have access to food or snacks similar to what the students are packing, like the elderly. Or, they may be packing snacks for kindergarteners or youths who may need a small boost for the tough times during Covid-19, as there is a large setback and youths may feel that a part of their youth is being taken away from them. Hence, the students may also be packing for those who need a small boost of joy and care from others.

Similarly, I have been involved in such activities before. It was not school-wide, but I was involved in Chingay packing, where we packed fun packs for the guests and VIPs. I had lots of fun as I could really see me and my batchmates working together, in some sort of relay system, to ensure that all guests and VIPs had the correct items in their bags. Everyone was especially observant, yet, we felt that we gained more values from this VIA. We were involved in putting a smile on other people's faces, despite not knowing them personally at all. But I felt some sense of selflessness and bliss after doing such an act.

I think the students in the picture are participating in VIA by packing food items into bags, most likely to contribute to a food drive or to participate in volunteer work. The students are wearing masks as well, which means that this activity took place amidst the pandemic. Taking this into account, they may be providing goodie bags to provide food for those less fortunate, or those hindered by the pandemic. From my past experiences, these activities are under VIA, or values in action. I've participated in a school event before that involved providing food to the needy. It was a very meaningful experience and reminded all of us to always remember that there are those disadvantaged in our society. I think that experience alone was very memorable for us as a class, because it was the first time for most of us that we had that sort of experience. Personally, it only boosted my drive towards wanting to participate in more volunteer activities outside of school.

i think that the students in the picture are from different classes, packing a vast variety of snacks into bags to (i infer) contributing to food banks and giving out to the society (plight of those who are less fortunate) and for volunteer work (VIA), and alongside they have a teacher to assist them and lend a helping hand. They are also wearing their masks which deduces to tell me that this happened during the Covid-19 period, which means that this program was held recently or not too long ago. I have once participated in such volunteering events like these as my school has planned such organisations for us to fill in our VIA hours. Before lockdown, I had went with my classmates to a nearby vicinity to distribute food platters for the underprivileged elderly and families. Getting to see the broad smiles planted on their faces because they have lesser access to these type of foods warms my heart :( it was definitely an eye-opening experience!

In this picture students are packing hampers probably for hamper packing for elderly. I love doing such activities as I had previously been introduced to hamper packing since primary school. Every year , we would pack hampers for the needy, elderly and even children in the orphanage. I even had the opportunity in Primary school to visit 2 nursing homes to personally give the hampers and spend time with the elderly. As seen in the picture , even the food items packed in the hampers are very specific as they have to be nutritional and most of the time we are asked to choose food items with the halal symbol and the healthy symbol on the packages.

i see students and teachers packing food into small goodie bags for their VIA projects. to donate or give away those goodie bags to elderly or to charity organizations. the picture also shows that the students are wearing their masks so this was done during covid times where many people would have been affected by the pandemic and lockdown that took place. doing such projects like these would very much help the people who were really really affected badly by the pandemic because they might not have sufficient food or might not even be healthy. the food packed by the students are like nutritional and healthy for them. i have done these kind of projects before but it was before covid happened.

Personally, I feel going to external centers like Old folks' homes or kindergartens would be really interesting for young people. So far, all we've done for VIA is mostly litter-picking and packing for food. Although these forms of VIA also serves a very important purpose such as taking care of the environment and looking out for others, I do believe that if the ones doing VIA enjoys VIA in the first place, I think that more people overall will have a better understanding and outcome of the VIA. Visiting to Old Folks' Homes can first build a greater bond between the young and old generation. It is common that people perceive the old and young generations as too different, and that we cannot understand one another. However, I think that by spending more time with each other can eventually lead to understanding. Some people are just unwilling to make time for others and honestly speaking, I don't think VIA is actually that favoured amongst my generation. But, with more exposure, I think that it can bring along a greater bond. Secondly, I think that this would be more favoured as youths can interact for more people. Youths, similar to me, are always keen in finding more about others and hungry for knowledge. When youths visit places like the ones I suggested, we can learn more about their generation, like how life was in the past, and how we can adopt values from them. And when we enjoy such experiences and learn new things, we can enjoy what we're doing, which is VIA.

Personally, I feel that most young people, myself included, enjoy going to old folks' homes. With the understanding that a large majority of young people enjoy socializing with others, directly interacting with other people would be both engaging and meaningful for them. For most of my past VIA projects, we've only participated in litter-picking. However, there was an instance when I had the opportunity to visit an old folks' home. This was the most memorable experience I've had, and I know from my classmates' responses that it was memorable for them too. There was definitely a sense of comfort and endearment that came from talking to the elderly, because they reminded us of our own grandparents. Getting to hear their life experiences was very enlightening as well, and we left that experience with more insight and perspective. I feel that with these volunteer activities, it is beneficial for both young people and the receiving parties.

Personally I feel that visits to facilities such as elderly homes will be one kind of volunteer work that youngsters like myself will be really interested in. In primary school, I was given the opportunity to lead my class in planning and organizing and executing a program for an elderly care home. We had planned different activities such as bingo, warm up exercises, performances and other elderly friendly home. I feel that this visit was a very significant one for me as I still remember it till today. Interacting with the elderly was very refreshing and eye opening to me. It was very unexpected and was a very enriching experience. Interacting with the elderly was an opening to new knowledge and life experiences. I had learn so much about olden day Singapore and how life was like back then. I had also learned that most of elderly there all lived alone and so I was extremely happy and grateful to have been able to spend meaningful time with them. I was honestly quite sad when it was time for us to depart. Even though it was only a few hours sent together, I was very contempt to have spent my time such meaningfully.

It seems to me that they are most likely participating in a project to donate food to other people in need, and I also noticed that the students are engaged in the activity. Since, then i have always loved the idea of doing volunteer work at nursing homes and orphanages where the children and elderly spend their day alone. It is quiet upsetting to know that they do not have anyone to share thier feelings with in a personal level and to see them earn for attention at such a age is really very disturbing. That is why i would love to do volunteer work at nursing homes and orphanages , so as to make their day and let them know that they aren't alone . It also helps me to understand the importance of the people in my life because seeing the elderly having no one to talk to , makes me realize how valuable it is to have someone to share your thoughts with because sometimes it can be overwhelming to have everything buried insdie yourself.

In primary school, there was once we visited an old folks' home and it was definitely one of the most unforgettable memories in my life. we had so many exciting and invigorating activities such as dancing and singing together, painting paper plates, doing pottery, sitting down and just having nice conversations with them in our own dialect. There was this elderly woman whom impacted me deeply- she told me about her entire life experience and how tough her life was, and how companionless and isolated she felt with no one to turn to bc her family had left her, and I couldn't help but burst into tears (which was def insolent for me to do bc I didn't want to seem as if I was "pitying" her) she then taught me to have optimism and see the brighter side of life and enjoy my youth and adolescence while I still could.... definitely a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence! However, I would definitely love to have the chance to volunteer with kids as I love children, and I think most of my peers would enjoy interacting with them too as our past VIA programs has mostly been litter-picking and giving out food

I agree with this statement.Forcing youngsters to do things will not have many good endings,it will just make them angry and aggitated and go against your forcefulness. However,i feel that youngsters nowadays are more lazy and unmotivated so i think that there should be more school events that promotes volunteering work and more events should be hosted because eventually, the students will revolve around it and get used to it,.This will bring out their self motivation and allow them to do more of this such activity. These activities with bring growth and maturity amongst the students and also gives them an opportunity to give back to the society. Therefore, forcefulness is not recommended but motivation is the key.

I disagree, I feel that young people should be forced to volunteer at will, instead of willingly contribute. What I would define 'young', is being a primary schooler, aging from 7-12. When in primary school, I would deem them immature and not ready to look at the bigger picture, relating to how values are cultivated, and eventually expressed through one's action

OK THE LESSON IS DONE

I disagree. I think that volunteering is supposed to be cultivated and nurtured in you and not forced to do so. And it is not mandatory, especially with teens schooling nowadays. Okay, I think being forced for a first is still fine, when they're of a very young age, to instill this in them. However, at our present age, having to force them and the mandated nature means that "they're not really volunteering with their hearts" OK THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE ILL CHANGE IT BYE

yes, i feel that young people should have the freedom of choice whether they want to volunteer in something. if people are forced to do something they have no interest in doing in the first place, they will end up doing what they are tasked to do for the sake of it, and not putting their maximum effort and focus into it. they will do things very half-heartedly, and usually not having the mood to amend mistakes that were made.
