Overall propaganda can simply be defined as advertising. Propaganda is used to promote others to do certain things or have a certain mind set. Propaganda can be seen through newspapers, television, and most commonly posters. In WWI propaganda posters were used by the government promote things such as getting men to join the war, getting others to donate supplies to the war, and trying to tell others to save food to feed soldiers, and many more. Propaganda was an important aspect to WWI because it helped civilians know what was going on in the war, and told the civilians how the citizens could help join the war efforts, overall creating more patriotism within a nation.

The posters shown below all promote the idea of food rationing. The goal of these posters was to tell people not fighting in the war to save food to allow the soldiers fighting for their country to be able to eat. The posters reflected this idea by saying the citizens were supposed to rationalize their food, and they explained how to rationalize it. Food rationalization was needed at this time to allow the soldiers in the war be feed and not die of starvation. The goal of food is just not a delicacy, its a necessity to life explaining why one would want to donate and rationalization food for the war, as if the soldiers didn't have it they would die.

The poster below is trying to promote Britain's to ration their bread supply by having the people eat less. This poster is saying that the kitchen is the key to success, meaning if the soldiers are fed than they are more likely to succeed in the war. Less bread consumed by the citizens means more soldiers can eat, creating more success.
