I have been working as a preschool English teacher since I was like 19 years old. English is really easy for them to learn, I think that being an enthusiastic teacher is a must, for young children. For me is important to make them feel good and happy in an English class, they acquired language in a natural way if they are self-motivated to learn without conscious learning.

Young children still learning their mother tongue, they develop innate language- learning strategies and they can also use these strategies to pick up a new language, at that young age they are able to learn a second language by playing, being part of activities where they can share with adults, they have more time to fit in English in a natural way than adults, one of the issues that I can talk about is that young children are not afraid of making mistakes, as adults sometimes we start to think before how or what to say and we get lost in conversations, being afraid about to say the right things.
Young students always wants to participate in classes, they want to share their thoughts, and they don't feel the insecurity about to speak in a new language.
The picture that I'm sharing in this post is a screenshot that I took from the platform where my students are developing their Online learning, it made me laugh a lot, but at the same time it made me feel proud because they are only 7 years old and they are trying to practice.

I think that young children should not be told that they have made a mistake, because they may feel desmotivated. Mistakes aren't issues mistakes should be part of the process to engage and fit in English language of working out grammar rules of English or they may be a fault in pronunciation. ‘I goed’ soon becomes ‘went’ if the child hears the adult repeat back as in learning their home language, children have an opportunity to hear the adult repeat the same piece of language correctly, they will self-correct in their own time.

language Environments

I always remember how I learned English when I was a that young age, like my students my father was at USA, to give us a better life, and he always sent to my sister and I Cartoon DVDs and we loved to watch them but they were just in English with Spanish subtitles, but I wasn't able to read yet, so I was always watching and listening, now I'm an English Teacher and my sister hates English, so I think and through my experience it is important to look for and English Environment, because it is the only way to make children speak and put in practice the four skills, for the people who just study an hour or a specific day, and forget about English the other part of the time it is going to be more difficult to be a English Speaker. As humans we are constantly learning and learning never stops, so it is important to put in practice everything we know.
