The Kyoto Protocol was an agreement negotiated by many countries in December 1997. The protocol was developed under the UNFCC - the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. 

All the Participating countries that had accepted the Kyoto Protocol have agreed to reduce emissions of not only carbon dioxide, but of also other greenhouse gases, being:

Methane (CH₄)
Nitrous oxide (N₂O)
Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
Sulphur hexafluoride (SF₆)

How has society reacted to the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect in terms of technology and governmental policies?

Global warming and the rises in co2 levels have direct correlation. This is because co2 is a green house gas. But its not just co2 that causes this, there are many other gases that contribute to the effect. Some of these other gases include methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. 

Global warming is causing the oceans to rise due to the melting ice caps. Low lying islands e.g. Maldives are at risk of flooding. Oceans will also warm causing coral reefs to bleach, as they are susceptible minor temperature changes

The purpose of this is to inform and show how global warming effects not just humans but the earth we live on.

This information is useful as it allows the reader to gain an insight on the greenhouse effect and what is affected by it. We can also learn from the differing perspectives from these websites.
