This quote is showing Beneatha being independent because , she was saying she did an experiment in school. and the way she is being independent is saying bio is the greatest , the subject she is learning saying it is the greatest.

this makes beneatha sarcastic because she is say saying the family is dead. sarcastic is when your in order to mock or your using sarcasm. and she was doing that becuase they arent really dead now , shes just saying that. she means that they are still poor and have nothing.

This quote relates to family. this is because mama is saying nothing will get between her and walter even if it was money or dreams. she was saying family is something holding on to. the family has nothing or dont own nothing so she was letting walter hold on. thats what family does.
