First and foremost, I believe that a <del>plenty of</del>broad knowledge o<del>n</del>f math and science is necessary for students because the foundation<del>components</del>underlying<del>of</del> today’s society<del>ies</del>is<del>are</del> based on these subjects. To be more specific, the digitalization of many fields, such as electric cars [OR: vehicles]<del>automobiles</del>, mobile phones and big data cannot be fully understood without having some background<del>the</del> knowledge of math and science<del> to some extent</del>. Besides, the digitalization of the society in which we<del> have</del>now live<del>d</del> is accelerating exponentially<del>ed</del> as time goes by<del>on</del>. In the future, it <del>we </del>will be impossible to <del>not even </del>even imagine the<del>the</del> world without being inundated by a myriad<del>ion</del> of applications of math and science. In order to <del>To </del>understand the complexities of both present and future society (and have the ability to pivot quickly)<del> adjust it</del>, I would <del>firmly </del>argue strongly that it is more important for students to study math and science than grammar and literature.

Secondly, science and math are important academic courses in South Korea. This is because many major universities prefer applicants who <del>have</del>arecompetent <del>great grades </del>in<del> </del> these disciplines, having already achieved outstanding grades in them. This has been evidenced on <del>It has been proved and observed in many cases</del>multiple occasions. For instance, it is known that students who have a first grade in<del>of</del> math or science are more likely to enter the<del> major</del> prestigious <del> </del>universities. On the other hand, with students who have a first grade in <del>of </del>grammar and literature, coupled with<del> and</del> relatively low<del>er</del> grades in <del> of </del>math and science, there is a higher likelihood that they will <del>are likely to fa</del>fail the entrance <del>in</del>to these very same <del>major </del>universities. In South Korea, graduates from the most renowned<del>of major</del> universities tend to go on tolead <del>be </del>successful careers in their chosen fields<del> future</del>.

In the two preceding paragraphs, I have outlined <del>That is </del>why I think studying science and math is the number one priority for students.

Today’s debate must not <del>be focused</del>limit itself to <del> on </del>the black and white notion of what is <del>correct</del>right or wrong, as there are many nuances to be explored on both sides. However, what is key to examine is <del>but more on how</del>the robustness of each claim being made<del> is</del>, based on specific pieces of evidence. Accordingly, I would argue that math and science are <del>principal</del>essential core subjects for students to learn for the two compelling reasons that I have <del>given</del>described above.
