         <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Point:<br>It’s important because it shows actual abuse of power and the wrongs Nixon did as President, it also shows a lot of mistrust because Nixon bugged people and tapped peoples phone and listened to those recordings<br>Key Point:<br>The U.S. citizens were very angry, the situation caused disillusionment, especially when Former President Ford pardoned Former President Nixon, and created much mistrust from citizens in politics and the white house<br>Who/When/Where/Why:<br>Nixon administration, “the plumbers”, 1972-1974, Washington D.C., Nixon did not trust other politicians or some people</div><div>Summary:<br>Nixon issued a group called “the plumbers” in attempt to stop anybody leaking confidential information by bugging the white house and tapping peoples phones to listen to their conversations and also recorded oval office conversations. Former President Ford, in attempt to calm the situation, pardoned Former President Nixon, but it caused disillusionment and controversy amongst citizens.</div>]]></description>

Most of these innovative technologies were made and released in america eventually making its way across the world. As humans evolved and as the world grew we looked for more help and more things to advance with, technology being the best.<br><br>Summary : Technology could have orginated from anywhere, to say that it first appeared in america is ignorant but it has advanced into the future greatly.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Point: Civil war broke out in Lebanon when multiple ethnic groups struggled for power. Fearing that Syrian intervention could make this war worse, so Reagan  sent a diplomat over to Beirut to negotiate a settlement.<br> <br>Key Point: After US troops left Lebanon terrorist attacks continued. When a Lebanon Newspaper was released  stating that the US was selling weapons to Iran, Reagan faced on of the biggest crisis during his presidency.<br><br>Who/When/Where/Why: Reagen, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Christians and Muslims. Events during 1975, and the Iran-Contra affair of 1986. Middle East. War in middle east, US involvement leads to hostages leading to secretly selling weapons to Iran.<br><br>Summary: During 1975 US troops were stationed as peacekeepers but other groups saw different and started terrorist attacks on US forces. This lead to hostages and Iran getting hostages and trading weapons for US troops. </div>]]></description>

Bush, Ronald Reagan, The United States<br><br>Summary : bush had succeeded on one of his campaign promises by passing the Americans with disabilities act. The president was less successful in carrying out his pledge to create 30 million new jobs. One reason for this was a financial mess, known as the savings and loan crisis, which he inherited from the Reagan administration.  In 1990, Bush sat down with leaders in Congress to forge a budget compromise that would reduce the deficit. Congress agreed to cut spending, but only after Bush agreed to raise taxes.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Point: This topic was important because it showed that just because communism in the Soviet Union has fallen it doesn't mean that it was wiped from all countries.<br><br>Key Point: communism had fallen in almost every country that previously was ruled by it except for Cuba, China, vietnam, and North Korea.<br><br>Who: Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin.  <br>When: late 1980's and early 1990's<br>Where: mainly the soviet union<br>Why: communism and the cold war were ending.<br><br>Summary : once communism had fallen many other countries ruled by communism were able to gain independence from the Soviet Union, though some countries refused to change their way of leadership either because they relied to much on the Soviet Union or countries like North Korea had to rely on China instead. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Neither Red Nor Blue: Independents and Third-Party Voters (1990s)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Point: Independent voters and third party presidential candidates have a pretty big impact on the outcomes on votes during elections.<br><br>Key Point: It was said in the text, "30-35 percent of registered voters defined themselves as independents". That means for someone to win the election, they have to appeal to those people.<br><br>Who/When/Where/Why: This took place during the 2000 election between George W. Bush (R), Ross Perot (I) and Al Gore (D).<br><br>Summary :  This was a close election between George W. Bush and Al Gore. But ultimately, it was up to Ross Perot's votes to determine who won. His 2.9 million votes was believed to be the game changer because it was the thing that separated the two main parties and helped George W. Bush win.</div>]]></description>

Meanwhile, Republicans would strive to balance the federal budget, combat crime, reform the welfare system, cut taxes, create jobs, and minimize lawsuits.<br><br>Key Point:When Clinton left office in the year 2000, there was about 40 million americans without healthcare.<br>The Republican´s plan ended up causing a shutdown in the government, but ended up opening up again in early 1996 when congress approved a budget that Clinton would accept.<br><br>Who/When/Where/Why:<br>-Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Republicans, and Democrats<br>-The late 1990s<br>-Washington D.C.<br>-Clinton took office with a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress. However, Clinton failed to deliver a campaign promise to reform the nation's health insurance system.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Point: Rumors of scandal spread about Bill Clinton doing things like illegally profiting from an investment, having numerous affairs, committing sexual harassment, committing perjury, and lying under oath.<br>Key Point: On December 19, 1998, the House voted along party lines to impeach President Clinton on two counts: He had committed perjury, and, he had obstructed justice by lying under oath. The Senate tried Clinton on both counts. As a result, the votes on both charges fell far short of the two thirds needed to remove Clinton from office.<br><br>Who: Bill Clinton, The Senate, Congress, and the accusers<br>When: The 1990s<br>Where: Washington D.C.<br>Why: Clinton was accused of participating in illegal doings<br><br>Summary: In the mid 1990s, At the start of Bill Clinton's presidency he was accused of doing multiple illegal acts like illegally profiting from an investment, having numerous affairs, committing sexual harassment, committing perjury, and lying under oath.
