If you're new to Twitter,  the first thing you'll need is the Twitter app. The Twitter app is available across all platforms including all smartphones and your computer. You can put this on your phone for ease of management, (recommended) or you can use the browser in your computer or, if you have Windows 10 on your school laptop, you can download the app from the Microsoft store. For Windows, Android, and iPhone users, go to the app store and download. If you're having students create a Twitter account, setting up a profile should be fun, but safety is always first. We need to be mindful of not putting anything personal online.
For safety reasons, and to help the front office identify WOTD winners, we will be using the student's lunch number as their Twitter handle. One of the first things you want to do is add or "follow" the DEN School Account. In the search bar, type in @GoDENPanthers, and it should take you to the profile. Once the page has loaded, hit "follow."

Note: You don't need a Twitter profile to view the account, so the people in the office don't need a profile to search the Twitter account. You DO need a Twitter profile in order to interact with our account, (and any account on Twitter) to post the Word of the Day, to be included in conversations, post a picture or short video, etc.

This might require you to have your own Twitter profile. This is not mandatory, but's the best practice for keeping track of everyone's activities online. This is only for people who WANT to switch to Twitter. if you'd rather wait, you can still come back to this padlet later, or not at all. We'll be tracking the word of the day through the hashtag #DENWOTD. We may also spell it out: #DENWordoftheDay
Why not just #WOTD? Because this hashtag is already in use, and although no one really "owns" a hashtag, there are hashtag creators.The Twitter account for Merriam-Webster already tracks the #WOTD hashtag--they post a Word of the Day everyday and it is mostly adults that respond to this. There's (usually) nothing inappropriate going on there, but it usually includes adult conversations, and it may confuse people if we don't have our own hashtag where everything is under the same umbrella.
