Players in a basketball game have assigned basketball positions: center, power forward, small forward, point guard, and shooting guard.
The center is the tallest player on each team, playing near the basket. On offense, he tries to score on close shots and rebound. But on defense, the center tries to block opponents’ shots and rebound their misses.
The power forward does many of the things a center does, but he takes long shots that the center doesn't.
The small forward plays against small and large players. They roam all over on the court. Small forwards can score from long shots and close ones.
The point guard runs the offense and usually is the team’s best dribbler and passer. The point guard defends the opponent’s point guard and tries to steal the ball.
The shooting guard is usually the team’s best shooter. The shooting guard can make shots from long distance and also is a good dribbler.

1. National Basketball Association or NBA is the top tier of American basketball and one of the most famous sports leagues in the world. Its most succesful team regarding titles is the  Los Angeles Lakers, but the team that has the most championships is the Boston Celtics.
2. The EuroLeague is basically the Champions League (football) of basketball. Just like UCL, clubs from different European counties have to qualify for the league. Real Madrid is the most successful team in the competition with 10 titles.
3. Spain’s ACB was founded in 1957. The league has been dominated over the years by two of the greatest names in sports history, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Both the teams have won a combined of 51 out of 60 titles.
4. The BSL or Basketball Super League was founded in 1966, despite the fact that the game was first played in Turkey in 1904. Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes are two of the best teams in the league.
5. VTB United League is the top-tier of Russian Basketball. There are currently 13 teams that participate in the league to show their dominance over others. He invented the game of basketball in 1891, and he is also credited with designing the first football helmet. He penned the first basketball rulebook, and established the basketball program at the University of Kansas. Naismith has been given numerous posthumous honors for his contributions to the world of sports.

Around the age of 30, Naismith left his athletics director position at McGill University in Montreal to teach physical education at the YMCA International Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. Upon the request of his boss, Naismith was tasked to create an indoor sports game to help athletes keep in shape as they endured the cold New England winters. We have had many great players that were even competing in the NBA and some of their best teams, like the Gasol brothers, Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernandez and Juan Carlos Navarro.
