There are so many ways to communicate with people properly, to avoid conflict and confusion. These ways all make communication healthier and easier to understand and help others. When you speak to people, you want to make sure that the right message comes across. In order to have good communication, you want to clarify that everyone understands the right message, “Use the techniques of clarification and reflection to confirm what the other person has said and avoid any confusion" (Improving Communication, 2). Clarifying the message can clear up any confusion and it can answer some of the questions that the audience has. When there is conflict, there must be communication to help resolve the conflict. There are often different points of view on a situation. Both sides have to be engaged in a negotiation to come to an agreement, "The point of negotiation is to try to reach agreements without causing future barriers to communication" (How to Refuse, Negotiate, and Collaborate, 7). When each side agrees on a solution, it shows that they communicated correctly and they came together to make a compromise that works for each side. When people are communicating, there will be many barriers that can hinder the receiving the correct message. One of the barriers. the mood that everyone is in when you are speaking. Stress, anger, and low self-esteem can contribute to this, "If someone is stressed they may be preoccupied by personal concerns and not as receptive to the message as if they were not stressed" (Strategies to Resolve Conflicts, 11). The other outside problems of a person can affect the message that you are trying convey in your speech. Communication can go both ways. Asking and offering assistance are good ways to communicate with those who need help or those who can help you. Offering help can relieve some of the stress on a person, "Offer to do jobs or chores. When someone is busy or stressed chores and jobs often slip through the cracks. Find out from your family and friends what they're too busy or stressed to do for themselves and set aside some time to do the chore or job for them" (Asking For and Offering Assistance, 15). When you offer that help, it helps both of you. The person you are helping can focus on more important things and you have helped someone which will make you feel good and make you want to help more people. These are just the four most important ways to communicate to me. I can work harder to improve in some areas more than other areas.

I can personally work on negotiation the most. I know that everyone wants their way to be the correct way, but we must learn that we are humans and we are wrong sometimes. I have a lot of trouble negotiating with my sisters. I always want to be right just like everyone else. I will argue with them to see who is right. But all of the arguing just leads to a bigger conflict. If we just take a step back and present our problems, we could possibly get a solution that we both like. If we cannot solve it by ourselves then we could have an outside person come and help us. When we present both of our sides, we can listen to each other and try to picture it from their point of view. We can then negotiate to figure out a compromise. The compromise will effect both of our solutions in a win-win way.
