This was one of many talented jazz bands that were affected by the pressure of the Nazis. Even though Jazz music wasn't officially banned, the gestapo police would still harass and persecute the Jazz musicians, even if they weren't actually protesting against the Nazis. This was mostly because the free and expressive attitude of Jazz contradicted the strict and orderly nature of the Nazis.

Many of them in the group were jews. They stood up for a love for life, self-determination, non-conformism, freedom, independance, liberalism and internationalism.

Also, their hate grew even more when the Swing Kids actually started to express their oppositional stance against the Nazis.

For instance, the Swing Boys were all held together at Moringen youth detention camp, they were still able to support each other. When they were not under supervision, they secretly sang tunes that they knew by heart. The Swing Girls also would sing in secret, but they would include other prisoners with them to make them feel better as well.
