  • The sender would type their message into the machine
  • Signals would pass through the plug board and switched around the letters into other letters
  • The rotares move to change the letter. The rotar moves once after each key is presses after 26 letters the second starts to move.
  • That goes on until the message has been changed. 
  • The signal passes through the plug board
  • The signal lights up a letter and the sender copies the letters to send as morse code. 
  • The receiver then puts in those letters to decrypt the message
