I found this one of the most interesting aspects from Hattie's research. I am a teacher in which likes to walk around the classroom and not sit in my chair or desk as much as I can. I've observed in some class's where the teacher has just stood up the front or sat down and I can see the students much more disengaged and trying to get away with sneeky things.

When completing AT1 this was one of the best papers I found. I am a very reflective person and I always take a minute to look back on my lessons. I ask myself what went well and why and also what can I work on. This allows me to understand what I need to get help from a senior teacher or mentor to improve on.

Quizizz is a fantastic tool in which teachers can create a quizz for their students based off content throughout the term. Quizizz has fantastic features such as, creating a quiz from uploading a worksheet, using AI to create a quiz from a YouTube video or a link from a website. This is a fantastic form of formative assessment and game-based learning for students to be engaged in. This can also be student-based learning as they could create their own quizzes for the class to compete in, based on their learning throghout the term.

This is one of the best resources, as well as Blooket, for formative assessment. You can create an account and run quizzes on all topics! I get students to put their initials as their name and this allows me to sift through the data it spits out at the end. This allows teachers to understand which questions students struggled with and what students did well on.

Working as a PTT, I have a grade 10 class which are trailing a BYOD program starting this year. We are using Q-Learn as our basis for accessing content and communicating with students. I have found it a great resource as you can create quizzes each week, you can upload worksheets, powerpoint presentations and many more. You are able to access it from home, so students who may be away are able to catch up on any work they missed. With assessment tasks, students are able to work on them with teachers being able to access and give feedback.

This has got to be one of my favourite games to play with my students. I can create a Jeopardy quiz for revision where they compete to get points, it does get very competitive too!

I also break students up into 5 groups and give them a topic to focus on. I get them to create a set of questions from easier 100-point questions to 500-point higher-order thinking questions. I find this gets them very engaged in the content and they like to show their knowledge off through the questions they write.

I was given this little gem from another teacher in my staffroom. It's an interactive PowerPoint with which I run group competitions. It takes a bit of time to write out the questions and answers but it gives us the chance to test students knowledge. I use show-me boards (mini whiteboards) for students to write their answers on then I get them to hold them up.
