The committee tries to limit their imagination by not teaching them different colors, different seasons, or even what 'Love' is. They assign children at the age of eight to start volunteering hours and at the age of twelve to finally start their official job. They don't provide any real freedom to the people in the community, since when you try to leave, they 'release' you since you are no longer of any use to them. Anyone who does try to escape the community without being released will be tracked down, as seen later on in the book with Jonas. Not to mention, if you get three strikes you are released, while in the real world you would just get some time in jail, depending on what they did. To sum it up, the people in the community have little freedom, not much desire for anything, and in my opinion no choice. I believe the committee just gives them the illusion of choice. When I am reading the story, I really like that Jonas is trying to get used to his life, even if he is a 12 and has lived there for a long time. Its like he is trying to break free from the community, cause the place is run by someone that wants to make sure everything is just right, and that they are making sure it is from a very young age. But they don't kill the people who do it wrong, they just teach them the right way. ( Sorry I went on a rant there)

Okay so, I think that it both promote's and Limit's freedom. Cause later in the book, I can't spoil it. But there is something that happens. But where we are now, It is like, You move farther away from your family with the bike. But its not going away from the community.

Choice, It really feels like what I said about Freedom. Cause later in the book, again, spoiler's can't tell. But in the earlier story, it is like, the community makes the choices for you. Like your job, but that is based on how you act as a child, and what you do. What you are best at.

Desire. I think it limits that. The stirrings? Yes that is desire, but that is more of a... that... desire. But stuff is given to you, at certain times. So when you want to ride a bike before nine's ( I think it was ) you could not, at least, not in the open, and also if you want to lie, its against the rules, and if they find out you will get in trouble.
