Field trips can be a great way to extend your lesson or unit, but there are strict regulations to follow when funding your class trip. Teachers may not ask parents for money for their students to attend any function. The teacher may inform the parents of the total cost of the field trip and can suggest donations for their child to go to help cover the costs, but parents are not required to pay their child's way.

Any correspondences that go home with your English Learners and their families should be sent to your community liaison to translate. This will help make sure your parents are receiving the correct information. Sometimes home translators do not do a great job at directly translating, so it is always a safe bet to walk it through your administration to make sure the verbiage is correct and appropriate.
