Ifemelu journeys to America, where despite her academic success, she is forced to struggle with what it means to be black in America. Obinze experiences a dangerous, undocumented life in London. Fifteen years later, they reunite in a newly democratic Nigeria.

This novel raises questions about race and belonging, and shows the search for identity and a home.  It is a great read!
