For my Media Report 2, I chose Country as my least favorite genre. The reason I chose country was simply because I can't connect with it like I can with other genres. Country or Western music is usually made up of ballads that usually have simple forms. It can also have folk lyric and harmonies that are followed by string instruments like guitars and banjos. It originated primarily in the south around the 1920s with roots from folk music. I would say that country music is important and influential but only to people who can connect to it. The song I did for my Media Report 2 was Humble and Kind By Tim McGraw. Although I don't like country music I found the message it portrayed very important and like this song I'm sure there are many more songs that hold significance as well. For people that grew up listening to country or simply enjoy country, I think there is a cultural and social import because a major part of the listeners and artists come from a similar background. It can be inferred that they also share similar struggles because of this and that can be a way into this genre since I have found country to be closely tied with emotions. Although I have grown up in a state that is part of where country originated, I don't find most of songs relate-able and neither do I find the standard sound of country music appealing. Because of this I have not changed my mind about country although I know that it is important to others.

These are lyrics to the Humble and Kind song I did for my Media Report 2. I chose this quote because it exemplifies the type of messages that are sent in the country genre and how they can be significant. The song was ultimately for the world to listen to so that morals would be reinforced. A better world could come out of people being nicer and more humble.

People who truly enjoy this genre are frustrated because of the stereotype posed on country music. This quote shows this frustration so much that an article (cited: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/country-music-important) was written to express what country is really about. Although this is only a stereotype, I would admit this stereotype over country music is another reason I don't like this genre.

This is an example of a country song that I would consider to be following the stereotype. It's playful and somewhat catchy but I couldn't listen to all of it in its entirety. There is music like this in pretty much every genre for example rap, but this one is not my preference.
