This book was mentioned because it shows the "proof" we need from students to show that they grow, learn, and become enriched members of our society. <br><br>I thought this was a nice way to think about a way to measure the impact of teachers on students in such a standards based, data heavy profession. <br><br>This book vs. data/standards just shows the ongoing argument of what's really important for young people to know by the time they graduate from high school, and what is the best way to teach them.</div>]]></description>

These scripted curriculums assume that all students are assimilated to the dominate culture. By forcing white culture to be exclusively taught in the k-12 curriculum, so many students of color are left out or isolated. Teachers need the freedom to design and create lesson based on their students context. </div>]]></description>
